#0, Gary Hume analysis
Posted by Peter Scott on 18-Nov-04 at 04:25 AM
Hi there,
I am a pupil at Keswick School, UK studying Art at A level, In one of my current projects I am analysing a piece of work from Gary Hume ("vicious") and I am looking for some specific information to complete my analysis, I need to find out any influences that he may have had when he was producing his work and also any quotes that he may have made about art or ideally his own work,
Any help would be grateful.
Thanks
Peter Scott

Gary Hume's work 'Vicious' is part of a series of paintings derived from the silhouettes of athletic statues around Mussolini's Olympic Stadium in Rome, Italy. The colours in this particular painting are based on the packaging from Wine Gum sweets because Hume felt that these colours signified nothing but personal preference - a comment on aesthetic taste in art.

You can find some quotes from Hume about his work in this page of clippings from my interview with him:

Hope this helps!
