"An Alien World ! ! !"

An interesting thing has happened to my career. Perhaps someone can help me understand, but don’t get me wrong, I’m not griping merely looking for what I did wrong or what I didn’t do. I have been painting for over 15 years in fine arts and twice that as a hobby. Most all my work was being sold through small café’s and direct to private collectors. I recently moved to Los Angeles and cannot find one reasonably decent retail operation that can take my work. And believe me there are a lot of “retail” operations in the LA area. You may be thinking “he must be painting some weird stuff”. You be the judge go to.... www.geocities.com/monarchgallery. What am I not doing to get these and others placed?? Maybe I need some critical reviews? If so, please someone give it a shot

Los Angeles is an interesting town - it takes a few years to get around. New People come and go and it takes a while before anybody starts to take you seriously. Unlike the east coast (i spent six years in NY and Southampton) things are not what they look at first. The advantage is that you do not have to start from the bottom.

   Ilia,
Thanks for the kind words, I guess because I get so distracted (frustrated) by promotion of my work that when I finally have time to work on sketching or painting that I don't feel like it anymore. I had an agent interested in helping me, she'socated in the San Diego area but never has the time to call me back.
Might just be a sutle put off. I'll try again tommorrow. I even thought of exhibiting at art festivals..there is one coming up on Memorial Day weekend but I don't think there is time to get things ready.

I know exactly what are you talking about...
At times all that the one can do is to refuse to be stagnant and most of the time that just does it.

check the link below

this article may not be exactly a match (for marketing) but few things in it might be a of some revelation as of where it is all going...

i was pointing out that to succeed artist needs an "agenda". i am not talking about concepts but about something tangible, something that has roots that are going deep into the history and society. artist should be mysterious but the mystery should be in "how he/she does it" (survives and creates in the world of indifference and "we already have a "new commer") and not in "what hi/she is talking about?",
the latter should be clear and understandable to as many people as his/her talent permits.

I looked throughout your site and thought that you might find interesting to explore fresco and take advantage of being one of the very few just yet.
since you have explored a variety of styles and media it should not be difficult to apply your skill on plaster.

by the way: the article is not about history but about present and perhaps a glance of the future. It would be nice if you could post your remarks there so i will clarify it's (articles) relevancy to "present".

A mystery. An agenda. A tangible. My how time flys, it seen as if it was just yesterday that I was setting at a table in the Muse Cafe in the heat of a place called Phoenix, listening to soft jazz, speaking in murmers to friends across the table. We couldn't figure out how we had graduated from college and didn't know what to do noxt as the jobs we had stunk. So we all planned how we were going to get a better job every friday nite for the rest of our lives
