Your work is very impressive, I especially liked the Russian boats piece. Do you work in oil or acrylics?

Thank you for yr compliments. This work was done in oil, with a latex base, as most of our work is. Lee

You do fine work very very nice.
I am curious if someone on this board might have some suggestions. I am a muralist in Houston as well, I am trying to find more work. Is a manager or agent something I should think about or should word of mouth and my web page be enough? Where is the industry standard to advertise? Are there resources I am not tapping into out there. If you can be of any help please e-mail me directly at mgart@ev1.net ... Thanks in advance for your elp. if you would like to see samples of my works please e-mail me and I will send you a link to my web site.

You do some of the best mural work I've seen posted for sure. I am very impressed, you do the quality of work I would think every artist should be striving to learn, no matter their style or interest. I grew up with my mom doing portraits, so I know how much work goes into what you do. It is very hard to give any tips whithout seeing it in person, the depth-etc., but it looks wonderful. I do murals myself, specializing in children's rooms because it is fun and low stress. I am suffering from Thoracic Outlet syndrome now, (ironically from a wreck) and can't paint many hours at a time, but I feel I was born to paint and am itching to work again. To have this much work done I know you must be painting non stop, do you have employees lay down the basic colors for you? And do you have any tips for body mechanics, tools, etc. that allow you to work more comfortably. I will really appreciate your advice, if any. Thanks for sharing your gift.
Kerrie

Hi Kerrie! Thanks for the kind words. I work by myself and do my own prepping. I wish I could say that I am swamped with work but there is not a great need for muralists here in upstate NY. I do paint full time though, balancing watercolors, murals, floorcloths, furniture and art classes in my studio. As for the advice...I use to be a nurse so I am very aware of body mechanics and the wear and tear of repeated movement so I never work more than 4 hrs a day when doing ceilings or tough physical work like brush blending for large areas, or am painting in an awkward position. By the way, this is also why I charge by the project rather than the day. People would feel that they are paying for time that I 'should be' working. I use a great ladder that has a platform on each step. I also use scaffolding with two sides that I can hold on to. I read about someone who always scheduled a visit to the massage therapist for every third day that she would be painting a mural. Sounds great and wise to me but I have not done that yet. Wish I could offer you more advice, Kerrie. Good luck to you! Susan
