"Debbie House - Painted Travesty"

Does anybody else get this TV show?
Her latest series, starting last night, takes us to Umbria, Italy as an inspiration for a do-it-your-self job somebody was going to in their living room(I think, I did't watch that far).
Beautiful shots of the Tuscan hills, etc., the story was that a decorative painting friend of Debbies had bought a old villa in Umbria which had not been worked on for two hundred years. The English couple spend a fortune restoring it. The walls were replastered and the antique stone and beams were kept. Now, she wants to introduce the palette of the Tuscan area with natural pigments. So far I am impressed. Then she explains that the Italians did not have base boards and moldings (!?!?), they would have to painted on - the whole house is then painted with fake panels, moldings, fabrics, etc. in the most amateur fashion I ever seen. The whole "villa" now looks like a junior high school production of "Romeo & Juliette" - and this was going to form the basis of the suburban living room!

I had to rant somewhere -hope you don't mind!

Hey Debbie...I didn't see this particular issue of her work, but I know the woman's work you are speaking of. What she does have is smart business techniques and the ability to go after a project. The fact that some of us consider her abilities not of a caliber of others doesn't really matter. It happens everyday, so use it for what it is worth. Inspiration/motivation to do your own work . I see some really reaaaally bad murals all the time that people are getting big $$. Yes, I agree with you but let it inspire you to claim your own space.

I love that show, I watch it all the time. Sometimes I think what she does is absolutely brilliant, and other times I'm like, "what is she thinking?" But, either way, I still love her techniques.
