I am preparing artwork which will be enlarged, reproduced and mounted for an outdoor display measuring 6x7 feet. It will rest just a few feet from foggy San Francisco bay waters.

So far I've been told that printing the image from a HP large format printer with UV inks onto matte canvas and then laminating it will last 15 years. Do you have any better suggestions for installation of a reproduction? How would you mount the canvas? Onto what kind of surface?

All experience welcome.

In direct sun time is shortened. Most are not displayed for great lengths. Designs that can be created using all vinyl rather than inkjet last longer.

If yours is basic color shapes you can print in vinyl cutouts. If gradients and multi-color blends inkjet is all you have to chose aside from hand painting in acrylic.
