#0, Muralists - is it hard to find clients ?
Posted by wallscapes by jan on 21-Feb-05 at 11:55 PM
I am Jan and have been a muralist and faux finisher for over 20 years, as a dyed in the wool artist type it has been a challenge for me to run a business and promote myself effectivly. mainly because it has not been all that interesting to me.

I often sense this is the case for other artisans - who would also rather be creating than marketing, what do ya'll think?

is there a need/market for this topic

thanks jan

I have found that just starting out, painting and working on the marketing are equally as important. Since I don't have a lot of clients, I spend alot of time getting my name out there. You have to enjoy all parts of it in order to be successful. It really takes discipline to set aside that time for just plain old 'selling yourself'.
I feel that it will pay off in the end. That's my take.
