The Valles Caldera Board of Trustees is conducting a competition for a logo. The selected logo will become property of the Valles Caldera Trust and will be used in future publications, letterheads, websites, and other public materials.*

The logo should include the words “Valles Caldera National Trust” and represent one or more features that are associated with the Valles Caldera National Preserve (previously known as the Baca Ranch) in Northern New Mexico. The logo will frequently be reproduced at ½”-1” in size for publications. For more information on the Preserve, please visit the website at:

WHO CAN APPLY? Anyone can submit a proposal.

WHAT SHOULD A PROPOSAL INCLUDE? Submit both a color an black and white version of your design. Submittals should be 3” to 4” in size and either digital (at least 300dpi resolution) or hardcopy form. All proposals become the property of the Valles Caldera National Trust after they are received and will not be returned.

WHEN ARE PROPOSALS DUE? Please submit proposals by October 29, 2001

WHAT WILL THE WINNER RECEIVE? The winner will receive $500.00 and be recognized in the media and highlighted on the Valles Caldera website.

WHO SELECTS THE WINNING LOGO? A panel of judges will select five finalists. The Valles Caldera Board of Trustees will select the winner from among those five. The threee judges are:

 Bill Field of William Field Design in Santa Fe
 David Skolkin, Art Director for the museum of New Mexico Press
 Mary Sweitzer of Sweitzer Design in Santa Fe

After the selection, the winner will be announced at the next public meeting of the Valles Caldera Board of Trustees and the logo becomes property of the Trust.

*The Valles Caldera Preservation Act states that “The Trust shall have the sole and exclusive right to use the words “Valles Caldera Trust” and any seal, emblem, or other insignia adopted by the Board of Trustsees.”
