#0, estimating materials using square feet
Posted by MikeN on 20-Jul-09 at 09:02 AM
Hello,

I am trying to provide an estimate for materials (sand, lime putti) quantities and costs per square foot, for a future project. Do you have any recommendations for this? Currently I am using the thickness 1.25" and weight. For example 1 square foot plaster @ 1" thick weighs approximately 12 lbs. A project that is 10 square feet would weight 120lbs which is 3 bags of sand weighing 40 lbs each.

How would much putti is used per square foot?

Thanks

Mike

in this DVD - Buon Fresco Foundations - Fresco Plaster

http://www.truefresco.com/frescoshop/product_info.php?products_id=45

is a chart detailing how thick the wall should be in relation to the fresco you plan to paint on it.

as of how much lime putty you will need per sq. feet of 1" thick (about 5 coats - 3 layers) fresco wall you can see here:

generally it is about 20-24sq feet per 20kg (5gallon) lime putty.
