I want to paint a mural outdoor on my parents garage. What paint do I use and if anyone had any suggestions on purchasing "dye colors" so I don't have to buy a lot of different colors of paint.

You can use outdoor latex paints from "Home Depot" and colorants/tints sold at the same place. Also "Home Depot" sells "rejected" paints (color mixes left/rejected by the customers) at the fraction of the cost, just pick a few for your palette. It is not exactly a requirement to use only outdoor paint since you are not applying a thick coat of a single flat color.

Ilia's message was correct and very practical. My husband and I paint outdoor community murals, and we use exterior latex paint from commercial paint stores. Also buying costom mixed paint that has been rejected is very good. view our work on www.evanslumberco.com see Historic Train Mural:)

Thanks Mary!

I went to the page, i like the way you accented the "trompe" of children with a shadow. Nice touch!

Mary,
Just have to say... I saw your mural and I LOVED it! How adorable, the painted children looking up at the mural! Very creative!

I agree with you all about the exterior latex paint. I've even heard that Ben. Moore is very popular!
